Things to do
The surrounding area is rich in opportunities for leisurely pursuits - walking, photography, wild life and painting - or more active ones, such as parachuting at nearby Cark Airfield. Local attractions include Grange itself with its shops, promenade and park; the ancient village of Cartmel with its twelfth century Augustinian Priory, race course, and "Sticky Toffee Pudding" Village Shop; and the stately home of Holker Hall. A little further afield can be found Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall, Furness Abbey, the Lakeland Poets' homes of Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount, Brantwood (home of John Ruskin), Hill Top (home of 'Peter Rabbit' creator Beatrix Potter), and many other places of interest and beauty.
